Family Dive and Snorkel with Manta Rays

Young kids need to be shown that there is more in the ocean than what they can see within just 50ft of the shore. If you have children who are competent swimmers with some snorkeling experience than the Manta Ray night dive in Kona should be on your short list of family vacation activities.
For scuba divers, being surrounded by any size group of Manta Rays is truly a sight to behold. There are several dive operators that offer Manta Ray dives on the Big Island of Hawaii. Most of the Manta dives are two tank dives with the first dive acting as an orientation dive before the sun goes down and the second dive is when the action happens. The Manta dive costs around $130 for a two tank dive.
Snorkelers can also see the Mantas from the surface, so the Manta Dive is equally adventurous for non-diving family and friends. While the divers kneel on the sea floor and shine their lights up the snorkelers swim on the surface and shine their lights down. The more Mantas show up the better your view will be from the surface.
Manta Ray dive packages are offered by Jack's Diving Locker as well as Kona Honu Divers.
